Parking Gate Safety
Built-in Protection against Personal Injury, Vehicle Damage and Liability for Parking Gates and Other Unattended Barrier Devices
See Rich Schineller's discussion on safety and minimizing risk in his article Advancing Pedestrian Safety and Risk Mitigation as published in the March 2006 issue of The parking Professional magazine.
The SmartGate® system addresses the limitations of conventional automated gate mechanisms, their many inconveniences, and the inherent hazards for all parties concerned. Some of these inconveniences are well chronicled in an article, Parking Gates vs. Motorcycles, published by the American Motorcyclist Association.
An invisible, Non-contact Safety Zone
The SmartGate® system generates an invisible sensing field precisely where it is needed: moving with, and preceding, a gate arm or door to detect potential contact before it occurs. The invisible field can "sense" conductive objects, such as people or vehicles. Packaged in a compact, shock-resistant housing, the SmartGate system can easily be installed into a new or existing gate in about one hour. The system signals the gate operator to stop or stop and reverse the motion of the closing gate arm in the event a person or vehicle is sensed in the danger zone of the moving gate arm.Versatility
Using InvisaShield™ technology, the SmartGate system supports sensing zones that can be tailored to a wide range of applications: it is generally not affected by humidity, temperature and other environmental factors.SmartGate PBG-3 System
The latest implementation of InvisaShield technology for parking and barrier gate applications is the SmartGate PBG-3 Non-contact safety sensor.Sunday, March 16, 2025
